After getting engaged at Christmas, the first thing we started to think about was wedding venues. We both liked the idea of an English country house or rustic barn which would suit a relaxed English country garden party theme and wanted somewhere that was no further than an hour away from London and exclusively ours for the day.
It took us a good few months until we found the wedding venue that we wanted (which I won’t reveal here until we send out the save-the-dates)! During the hunt, we came across some beautiful country house wedding venues across the UK that I thought I’d share below, although you can find plenty more on my Wedding Venues UK Pinterest Board.
Maunsel House, Taunton, Somerset
Maunsel House is a dedicated wedding venue in Taunton, Somerset. It has a quintessentially English country house exterior and then a beautiful outdoor pergola entwined with vines, meaning you can have an outdoor wedding and always be sheltered from the British weather…
Barnsley House, Cotswolds
Barnsley House can be found nestled in an idyllic English country garden in the heart of the Cotswolds, an area known for its quintessential English cottages and beautiful scenery. This is a luxury hotel so does not come cheap, as with most venues in the Cotswolds. Who can resist that stone archway in the garden for an outdoor ceremony…
Caswell House, Oxfordshire
Caswell House is a barn wedding venue in the Cotswolds, with flagstone floors, Cotswold honey-coloured stone walls, oak beams and a moat outside. Like Barnsley House, it also has a beautiful stone archway for outdoor ceremonies but the barn vibe is a lot more relaxed, ideal for more rustic weddings. Best of all, it’s exclusively yours for the day.
Dewsall Court, Herefordshire
I loved the look of Dewsall Court as it lies in acres of land, has accommodation on site and is so versatile; there is a beautiful light glass conservatory which would suit a luxury dinner, a stone and wooden pillared barn with a wood burning stove for a rustic theme and a yurt that can be attached for a hippy/festival vibe! Also there is an ancient church just a short walk away through the gardens if you wanted to have your ceremony in a church. Win win all round.
Micklefield Hall, Hertfordshire
Micklefield Hall is a country house wedding venue surrounded by rolling countryside yet is less than 25 miles outside central London – the perfect combination. I loved it for the beautiful gardens and pond ceremony option, as well as the rustic barn which is new for 2016.
South Farm, Cambridgeshire/Hertfordshire
This exclusive use venue is perfect for those looking for a relaxed, fun, rustic country themed wedding and is less than 40 minutes away from London by train. The outdoor looks like a chocolate box cream cottage with blue shutters and has a selection of timber framed barns just waiting for bunting and fairy lights…
Are there any other beautiful country house/barn wedding venues that I have missed?
