Looking back over my 2014…

As much as it terrifies me that the years are flying by so quickly, I do love New Year for encouraging us all to pause, reflect and assess our lives. It is the perfect time to start making resolutions, changes and bucket lists by re-evaluating what is important to us.

I enjoy reading blog posts about other people’s years so as today is officially New Year’s Eve, I thought I would take a look back over my 2014! Sadly, a couple of people were lost along the way but there were plenty of positive moments too…

Weekend in Barcelona

This spring, the boyfriend and I headed to Barcelona for my birthday weekend. It is a really fun city and I would definitely go back, although probably with a group next time as it is a party place!

Race for Life

This summer I finally got round to running Race for Life, along with one of my best friends and a few girls from work. We went for the 5K as we were all beginners but were so proud of ourselves as we all managed to run the whole thing! My time was 30 minutes exactly and it was a great feeling being able to challenge ourselves whilst raising money for Cancer Research UK.

Roadtrip across America

OK, so this wasn’t a complete route 66 roadtrip (*one day*) but the boyfriend and I were still were able to escape to the US for a week and travel across San Francisco, Yosemite, Death Valley and Las Vegas! It was one of the best trips of my life and I would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Buying a first home

My boyfriend and I have rented in London for a few years, both separately and together, and this year we decided to take the next step and buy our own place together. It was ridiculously expensive and stressful but we now have a lovely two bed flat on the outskirts of Greenwich. (Thanks to both sets of parents who helped us massively with the whole thing)! We have been busy redecorating and fixing it up so I am hoping to share the before/after pics on here in the new year…

New job at bareMinerals UK

This autumn I started a new job as PR Co-Ordinator at bareMinerals UK. (Incidentally it was the exact same time as moving house so a very stressful, eye-twitching week for me)! It has been really busy but it is great working for such a fabulous, ever-growing brand.

Getting engaged!

This was a complete surprise to me! My boyfriend Marc had been out of the country with work for a month, two days after we had moved in to our new place. He said that he felt bad having to leave me to unpack/sort out our new home alone so was going to take me on a surprise date night after work when he got back. He picked me up after work on a Friday two weeks before Christmas and whisked me around London for dinner and drinks. Just when I thought the date night was over, he hailed a taxi and asked it to take us to The Rosewood Hotel in Holborn. I thought we were going to the bar but he then told me to check inside the zip of my bag where I found a room key inside. When we got to the room, there were roses and candles everywhere as well as champagne and cakes on the table and that is when he proposed! We have been together for nearly seven years as we met when we were teenagers (before doing a long distance relationship during Uni) and are hoping to save for the wedding over the next 2-3 years.
